The monumental moment occurred in the 42nd over, as the 35-year-old maestro achieved his 50th century, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar. This landmark was not only reached in front of his cricketing idol but also at the venue where he carried Tendulkar on his shoulders after the 2011 World Cup triumph.

As Kohli whipped the ball to deep backward square leg at 135.1kph, the Wankhede erupted in celebration. Every sinew in his body reflected the desire for this achievement, and as the helmet came off, he raised his hands before bowing down. Tendulkar, in response, stood and applauded, and the Wankhede embraced the historic moment, rightfully acknowledging Kohli's stellar feat.
