The Trinbago Knight Riders started their CPL 2024 campaign in a manner suitable for the most successful team in the league's history. They faced the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their first game of the season at the Warner Park stadium in St. Kitts.

Nicholas Pooran muscled TKR to a huge total

The Knight Riders were put into bat after Andre Fletcher won the toss. They got off to a brilliant start as Sunil Narine set the foundation with a fiery cameo. The momentum injected by Narine was carried ahead by Nicholas Pooran (97 off 43) and Keacy Carty (73 off 35). The attacking knocks by the two batters ensured that the Knight Riders posted a mammoth total of 250/4 in their 20 overs.

Tristan Stubbs failed to score big despite a good start

The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots needed a blazing start to stay in the hunt. Even though they lost an early wicket, Evin Lewis and Mikyle Louis gave some momentum into the chase. After Lewis's dismissal, Tristan Stubbs joined Louis and continued from where Lewis had left off.

Stubbs was looking good during his stay in the middle and played some gorgeous shots. One such shot, a brilliant execution, came in the last ball of the ninth over. Terrance Hinds bowled a full delivery at the fourth stump line. Stubbs shuffled across the stumps and set himself up nicely to execute a reverse paddle shot over the third-man fence for maximum, sparking excitement among the viewers.

It was a brilliant shot by Stubbs, and it reminded viewers of the South African legend AB de Villiers. ABD was known for the range of shots he used to play, often being called Mr. 360°.

Speaking about the match, though Stubbs looked good in the middle, he failed to make it big. Just like Stubbs, his team failed to reach the target despite looking great as a batting unit. Their unsuccessful chase resulted in a disappointing loss, as they posted 206/8 in their 20 overs, falling short by 44 runs.
