[Watch] Travis Head's Agile Short-Leg Run Out Bags Kavem Hodge's Wicket

Travis Head may have missed out with the bat in the first-innings at The Gabba but the Australian batting maverick showcased his fielding acumen with a terrific run-out from the short-leg region against the West Indies on Day 3.

Exhibiting great awareness and agility, Head picked up the ball on the defence from Caribbean batter Kavem Hodge on the bounce and made a reflex throw at the stumps at a critical stage in the third innings of the Test match.

It's almost as if Hodge didn't expect Head to pick up the ball as quickly and cleanly as he did as the right-hander collapsed while having to backtrack inside the crease but was late since the Australian fielder had done his magic by then.

The excellent piece of fielding came off the final ball of the 50th over in the West Indies third-innings batting effort. Going around the wicket to bring the bat-pad catches in play, off-spinner Nathan Lyon had Hodge flicking the skidder towards the on-side.

The batter's weight was so far forward, he had no time to resurrect ground when he realised Head had collected the ball and thrown it to the stumps in a jiffy. Hodge tried to return to his crease but he was well short as Head managed to provide Australia a fifth breakthrough for the innings.

Until then, Hodge had played a rather composed knock of 29 off 73 balls and was looking set for a match-winning haul at the crease. However, Head rained in his parade and gave Australia a wicket they desperately wanted.

With West Indies having taken their lead to a threatening 205 runs at thus point, the hosts required a breakthrough to revive their spirits and belief as they looked to control the second-innings damage and not allow the visitors to post a daunting target.
