The Trinbago Knight Riders are taking on the Barbados Royals in the 28th match of the CPL 2024 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Rovman Powell, the skipper of the Barbados Royals, won the toss in this match and put the Knight Riders to bat. The start of the innings was far from ideal for the Knights, as they lost three crucial early wickets, setting them back at 35/3 by the fifth over of the innings. 

Kieron Pollard brought the Knight Riders back into the game

After the fall of Nicholas Pooran, it was the duo of Keacy Carty and the veteran Kieron Pollard who turned the tide for the Knight Riders. Their partnership of 70 runs not only stabilized the team but also brought them back into the game. Pollard's impactful knock of 42 runs from 27 deliveries was a testament to his skill and experience. 

In the 13th over of the game, Pollard brought down his fury on the South African spinner, Keshav Maharaj. On the first three deliveries of the over, the veteran Trinidadian slammed the left-arm spinner for three massive sixes. This acceleration from Pollard injected much-needed momentum into the innings of the Knights. The result of this was the 170-plus total that they posted. 

In the chase, the Barbados Royals lost a couple of wickets early.
