Australia's swashbuckling batter Travis Head grabbed a million eyeballs on Saturday as he smashed a blistering knock in Washington Freedom's group stage MLC 2024 encounter against Texas Super Kings.

Opening the batting Head struck a belligerent 22-ball 53, playing a pivotal role in Washington's clinical victory.

After winning the toss, Texas Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis opted to field first at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

However, his decision backfired on the Men in Yellow, with Head taking on their bowlers right from the word go.

The explosive left-handed batter had answer to all the questions asked by the TSK bowlers. He hammered them all around the park to compose a magnificent 53-run knock, studded with eight glorious boundaries and two monstrous sixes.

After Noor Ahmad deceived him, sensational knocks from skipper Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell powered Washington to a formidable 206-run total.

The Afghan spinner emerged as the wrecker-in-chief for the Super Kings, scalping three wickets for 38 runs in his four-over spell.

In response, TSK lost wickets at regular intervals, being bowled out for 164 in 19.5 overs. Although captain Du Plessis slammed a gorgeous 32-ball 55, he lacked support at the other end, resulting in TSK's disastrous defeat.
