Tilak crashes Kruger, turbo-charges Indian innings
Tilak Varma, on the day of his 22nd birthday, celebrated the occasion by lighting up India’s scoring rate against South Africa in the series-opener in Durban on November 8. The dashing left-handed batter belted three boundaries and two sixes, including one off Patrick Kruger in the 14th over of the Indian innings.

Tilak Varma was eventually dismissed by senior South African spinner Keshav Maharaj the following over at 167-3. Following his exit, Team India’s scoring rate took a heavy beating as the visitors managed to gather just 35 runs from their final five overs, thus finishing at 202-8 by the competition of their innings.
Indian opener and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson top-scored with 107 scintillating runs from just 50 deliveries. Smearing seven boundaries and 10 sixes in the process, India’s perennial underachieving batting superstar whacked his second T20I century, and second in successive games.
