In the ongoing first T20I between India and South Africa at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban, the hosts, batting first, have got off to a flyer. Opener Sanju Samson has been the pick of the batter with a quick-fire fifty.
Notably, the Men in Blue lost Abhishek Sharma early on, but Sanju Samson took the onus on his shoulders and smashed a 27-ball fifty. While Sanju was effortlessly hitting the ball across the fence, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav struggled to get into his usual rhythm in the shortest match format.
SKY Fails With The Bat In The Opening T20I
SKY came to bat when India were 24/1. He stitched a 66 stand with Sanju for the 2nd wicket but contributed just 21 runs in that partnership. Surya amassed 21 (17), which featured two fours and a solitary six.
On the 6th ball of the 9th over, SKY went for a maximum but could not get the timing and hit the ball towards the deep square leg. Notably, debutant Andile Simelane took his maiden catch, and Patrick Kruger registered his first wicket of the game.
Patrick Kruger Bowls A 11-Ball Over
It was an eventful over from Kruger and also a frustrating one for Suryakumar Yadav. Notably, in the 9th over, Kruger bowled two no-balls and three-wides. He gave 15 runs in that over but managed to get the big fish out.
At the time of writing this article, India are looking to post a big total on the board as they have already posted 176/4 after 16.1 overs. Notably, Sanju Samson smashed his second straight T20I hundred as he also scored one against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
