Young Australian leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha unleashed a sharp turn against Perth Scorchers in match number 30 of the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season. Turning up for Sydney Thunder at the Sydney Showground Stadium, the 22-year-old bowled out his four-over spell at the expense of just 14 runs while defending a moderate total against the visitors.

Defending just 138 runs to secure a much-needed win, Sydney Thunder captain Chris Green employed spin prodigy Tanveer Sangha within the powerplay, with both Perth Scorchers openers still batting at the crease.

While Sangha conceded just nine runs off his first two overs, the cricketer bowled his third over on the trot at a time when opener Zak Crawley and number three Aaron Hardie looked settled in the middle.

In the last ball of his third over, Sangha unleashed a sharp turn, much reminiscent of that of late Australian leg-spinner Shane Warner, to trouble Scorchers’ English import Crawley. The ball landed around the off-stump region before it deviated way outside the batter’s slot.

On-air commentator Harsha Bhogle also lauded the Sydney Thunder spinner for his tight lines and for generating sharp turns in the middle overs.

Tanveer Sangha ended up conceding just 14 runs off his four overs, as he kept troubling the Perth Scorchers’ batters throughout their moderate run-chase task.

Earlier in the game, hosts Sydney Thunder posted 137-8 off their 20 overs, with explosive English opener Alex Hales scoring 72 off them from just 55 balls. None of the other batters managed to get going, considering number three Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s mere 27-run effort turned out to be the next biggest benefactor of the Thunder’s innings upfront.
