[Watch] Markram's 'Dhoni Like Captaincy' Pays Off As Pooran Throws His Wicket With A Rash Shot

South African skipper Aiden Markram struck with his golden arm as he got the prized scalp of Nicholas Pooran in the must-win Super Eights fixture against West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

The incident occurred during the second over of West Indies' innings when they were already rocked by the early departure of Shai Hope.

After Jansen got Hope out in the first over, skipper Markram made a surprise call, introducing himself into the attack. As two left-handed batters were at the crease, the off-spinner thought of testing himself with the ball.

His decision worked wonders for the Proteas as he got the huge wicket of Nicholas Pooran on his first ball.

Coming from around the wicket, Markram bowled a tossed-up delivery, with Pooran trying to send the ball out of the park. However, the swashbuckling southpaw miscued the shot as the ball was caught by Jansen in the deep.

Despite losing two quick wickets, West Indies are well on track for a remarkable recovery. Kyle Mayers and Roston Chase have rode their luck to form a brief scintillating stand so far. As of writing, the co-hosts were 47 for two at the end of the powerplay.
