Premier South African bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen suffered a major injury scare during his side's ongoing T20 World Cup Super Eights encounter against West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. While attempting for a catch, Jansen had a nasty collision with ace South African pacer Kagiso Rabada, eventually walking off the field.

The incident occurred during the eighth over of West Indies' innings when Roston Chase and Kyle Mayers were steadying the ship for the co-hosts following the cheap dismissals of Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran.

South African captain Aiden Markram decided to bowl himself out as he was in sublime rhythm. He was impressive until the fifth ball when Mayers decided to break the shackles and take on his off-spin.

As Mayers went downtown, the ball went up high in the air, with Rabada and Jansen simultaneously going for the catch. There was a miscommunication between them, resulting in their deadly collision near the long off boundary.

Following the clash, both bowlers fell in the ground, with Jansen groaning in severe pain. He even walked off and was out of the field for quite some time. However, after a few minutes, the left-arm pacer returned and was seen fielding inside the circle.

Meanwhile, the game hangs in the balance, with West Indies placed at 87 for three in 12.1 overs. Tabraiz Shamsi broke the solid third-wicket stand between Chase and Mayers, dismissing the latter for a 34-ball 35.
