Rohit Sharma gave surprise after surprise on Sunday (November 12) during India’s last league match of the World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The Indian skipper first brought Virat Kohli to bowl, followed by introductions of Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav in order to get his sixth bowling option.

Rohit’s moves seemed logical, as India do not have any sixth bowling options ahead of their semi-final against New Zealand. The absence of Hardik Pandya has been a massive blow for the Men in Blue, and hence, they must find someone else to roll his arms if things go south.

Although Suryakumar did not get a wicket like Kohli, the Mumbai Indians star started very calmly and conceded only four runs off his first over. However, Teja Nidamanuru punished him with back-to-back sixes in the following over, and after that, Rohit decided not to continue with Suryakumar any further.

In two overs, Suryakumar conceded 17 runs and did not take any wicket.
