[Watch] ‘Prince’ Shubman Gill Comes To Bowl After ‘King’ Virat Kohli Show

Unprecedented scenes took place on Sunday (November 12) during India’s final league game of the World Cup 2023 match against the Netherlands at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The crowd became even more jubilant when Shubman Gill entered the attack with the ball in hand, following Virat Kohli's appearance to bowl in front of his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans.

Considering the 411-run target was out of reach for the Netherlands, Rohit Sharma made a few experiments in his bowling attack, keeping the semi-final against New Zealand around the corner. First Kohli came, then Gill, and later Suryakumar Yadav came into the attack as well.

However, unlike Kohli, Gill, who last bowled in the international circuit against Australia, failed to do much with the ball. The World No. 1-ranked ODI batsman started off by conceding a single, and in his first spell, gave up 11 runs off his first two overs.

Suryakumar Yadav, meanwhile, conceded four runs off his first over.

At the time of writing this, the Dutch side have reached 149/5 after 33.2 overs, with Sybrand Engelbrecht continuing to shine, batting on 42* off 64 balls.
