Jasprit Bumrah snapped Bas de Leede’s growing resistance to worsen Netherlands troubles in their daunting run-chase in Bengaluru. The Indian speedster, after enduring a wicketless spell with the new-ball, castled the Dutch all-rounder in his sixth over of the innings.

Bas de Leede’s dismissal marked Netherlands fifth casualty of the evening, as they inch closer towards yet another big defeat in their final World Cup 2023 league fixture.

Jasprit Bumrah, in his return spell during the middle overs of the Netherlands innings, removed Netherlands number six Bas de Leede with a pinpoint yorker. The Indian speedster shattered the cricketers off stump to take the ‘Men in Blue’ closer to a big win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Bas de Leede’s dismissal reduced Netherlands to 144-5 off 32 overs, finding themselves 267 runs away from their target from just 108 remaining deliveries.

Earlier in the match, Team India amassed 410-4 from their 50 overs upfront off the back of stunning centuries from Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. Moreover, openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma along with legendary number three Virat Kohli also dazzled with sparkling 50-plus scores.

A win against Netherlands, almost a certainty, will extend India’s unbeaten World Cup 2023 league run to nine matches. The ‘Men in Blue’, under Rohit Sharma, also became the first side of the tournament to qualify for the semi-finals and ensured a number one finish for themselves on the points table by trouncing South Africa last week in Kolkata.
