The 2023 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draws to a close as we witness the Qualifier 2 awaiting on the queue. Guyana Amazon Warriors will be squaring off against Jamaica Tallawahs in a do-or-die encounter at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on September 23, slated to begin at 4:30 AM IST.

The Tallawahs are having a great season all of a sudden and seems to be peaking at the right time in the competition. They are on the back of three consecutive wins with the latest being against St Lucia Kings in the Eliminator 1. They finished the points table with nine points from ten matches, winning four of them. One of their games was rain-washed. A couple of triumph followed five back-to-back losses in the group stages and hence the Jamiaca-based franchise could make it to the Playoffs.

On the flip side, Guyana finished at the top of points table in the league stages with 17 points from ten matches. They lost just a solitary game against the Kings. Unfortunately, they faced a defeat against Trinbago Knight Riders in the Qualifier 1 assignment and therefore finds themselves in a must-win clash against the Tallawahs. With the finals' spot up for grabs, we shall quickly switch attention to the best captain and vice-captain options for fantasy teams.

CPL 2023 Qualifier 2, GUY vs JT- Venue Analysis

The surface at the Providence, Guyana has behaved inconsistently. A few strips have been slow and kept the ball low. In such surfaces, the spinners played a crucial part and the batters had a torrid time. However, the other turf saw some scores being piled up. Pacers with good variations or slower ones are going to be very effective here.

CPL 2023 Qualifier 2 | GUY vs JT- Toss Factor

The toss is definitely going to play a crucial impact in the game. If the surface is on the slower side, the toss winning captain may opt to bat first.

Scenario: If JT wins the toss

The Tallawahs are a great bowling unit and could field first if they win the toss. They would probably go with their winning formula at the particular venue. In that case, players such as Imad Wasim, Alex Hales and Fabien Allen can be a good choice.

Scenario: If GUY wins the toss

The Amazon Warriors' skipper, Imran Tahir may opt to bowl first. Batting first did not yield the best result for them against TKR in their latest clash at the same venue. If thats the scenario, then Gudakesh Motie, Saim Ayub, and Imran Tahir could be a great option for captain or vice-captain.

CPL 2023 Qualifier 2, GUY vs JT- Top Captain and Vice-captain Picks

If JT bats first

Fabien Allen

The left-arm orthodox spinner bagged a four-for in their last game. He is in tremenous form not just with the ball in hand but also with the bat. Allen comes at the lower middle order and plays vital cameos. In addition he is also a fabulous fielder and grabs catches in the outfield.

Shai Hope

The West Indies ODI skipper recently struck a flamboyant century that came in just 44 balls. The classy batter has notched up 409 runs in the tournament and is the top run-getter for the franchise. Hope is a very good batter of spin and pace.

If GUY bats first

Saim Ayub

The young gun is the second-highest run-getter in the competition with 406 runs from 11 innings. He has been batting brilliantly at the top of the order and can splash the hard ball really hard. Ayub is a great capitaliser of the powerplay and had fetched three back-to-back half-centuries halfway through the season.

Chris Green

The Australian all-rounder had an excellent outing in the CPL 2023 season. He fetched seven wickets in his last three innings that includes a four-wicket haul. He is excellent with ball during the middle phases and when needed offered breakthrough inside the powerplay too. Not to forget, Green's ability with the bat in hand.

CPL 2023 Qualifier 2, GUY vs JT- Big Risk, Big Return Choice

Alex Hales

The English top-order batter  stormed around the park a few days ago with a century under his belt. Hales has blown hot and cold in the tournament but it does not take away his potential as a top-order batter. If he gets going, he can be a destructive force on any day against any opposition.
