The Trinbago Knight Riders and the St. Lucia Kings are facing each other in the 12th match of the CPL 2024 at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia, Gros Islet. The Kings were asked to bat first in the game after the Knight Riders won the toss.

Rajapaksa and Chase revived the Kings

Despite a promising start, the Kings found themselves in a precarious position, having lost three wickets in four overs. It was at this critical juncture that Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Roston Chase stepped up, forging a formidable partnership of 80 runs from 58 deliveries. Their resilience not only revived the Kings' innings but also posed a significant challenge for the Knight Riders.

Even though Rajapaksa was dismissed in the 18th over of the innings, Chase remained unbeaten until the end. He scored 56 runs off 40 deliveries and played a major role in taking the team's total past the 180 mark.

Narine failed to convert his start into a big one

The Knight Riders needed a strong start from their openers to get close to the target. Sunil Narine set them off on the right note with a couple of big hits in the first two overs. However, his innings did not continue for long as CPL debutant Khari Campbell accounted for him in the second over of the innings.

Campbell bowled a good length delivery at the middle and leg stump line. Narine tried to move away from the line of the ball and clear the mid-on fielder. However, he did not make a proper connection and ended up slicing it towards Faf du Plessis, who was stationed there. The skipper of the Kings completed a comfortable catch and sent the dangerous Knight back to the hut.

Although Narine fell early, it did not affect the Knight Riders much. Jason Roy and Shaqkere Parris were able to maintain the momentum and scored 70 runs off the first five overs of the innings.

At the time of writing, the Knight Riders have flown off to 109/3 in just 9.3 overs.
