The Trinbago Knight Riders are facing the St. Lucia Kings in the 12th match of the CPL 2024 at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia, Gros Islet.

Du Plessis and Charles gave the Kings a decent start

Kieron Pollard, the skipper of the Knight Rides, put the Kings to bat after he won the toss ahead of the game. The Kings made a decent start to their innings, as Faf Du Plessis and Johnson Charles stitched together 40 runs for the first wicket in just four overs. However, after this, they lost three quick wickets and struggled to get the total to a respectable one.

At this stage, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Roston Chase formed a partnership to propel the team's total to fighting one. The batters spent some time stabilising the innings before attacking the opposition.

Pollard was frustrated by Salamkheil's length

In the 13th over of the innings, Rajapaksa decided to get a move on. He took the attack to the Afghan spinner, Waqar Salamkheil. Rajapaksa hit Salamkheil for two back-to-back sixes off the last two deliveries of the over.

Although Salamkheil provided the Knight Riders with the vital wicket of du Plessis earlier in the innings, the effort by him in this over frustrated his skipper, Kieron Pollard. When the fifth delivery of the over was slammed away for a maximum by Rajapaksa, Pollard was seen making gestures to his bowler. It looked like Pollard was frustrated with how Salamkheil was tossing up the ball.

Pollard wanted Salamkheil to shorten the length a touch. However, the message might not have reached the bowler, as he tossed up the ball once again in the next delivery and was blasted away for six more runs.

The partnership between Rajapaksa and Chase brought the Kings back into the game after three quick wickets fell. Even though Rajapaksa has been dismissed, Chase has completed his half-century at the time of writing and is still unbeaten. The Kings are stationed at 174/5 in 18.3 overs.
