After losing wickets at regular intervals, Ben Stokes was England’s sole hope against their arch-rivals Australia while coming to chase 287 in their high-voltage World Cup clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the Englishman's show was cut short by Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis, who are well-known in the cricket world for their bromance.

It was almost a nothing delivery by Zampa, who bowled a delivery that was going down the leg side and pitched at short length. The ball was bound to be punished, but all Stokes managed to do was hole it out straight to Marcus Stoinis at short fine leg.

While Zampa and Stoinis, along with several other Australians, were ecstatic to get rid of the big fish, Stokes was left stunned in the middle of the crease, wondering how he could possibly miss a four at the very least.

It was a hard-fought knock by Stokes, who lasted 90 deliveries against his favourite opposition for his 64. While the swashbuckling all-rounder was in serious pain for most of the time at the crease, he kept going, and seemed like on a mission to pull off another memorable show.

Unfortunately, it did not happen in reality.

As of writing, England are left reeling at 186/7 after 39.2 overs, needing 101 runs off 64 balls.
