Australian all-round maverick Mitchell Marsh is set to re-join his team in their World Cup 2023 crusade on November 5 in Mumbai. Earlier, the cricketer had flown back to Perth due to personal reasons, which subsequently ruled him out of Australia’s blockbuster showdown against defending champions England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Mitchell Marsh set to re-join Australian team

Mitchell Marsh, who bludgeoned match-winning knocks against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the ongoing 2023 World Cup in India, left team camp to fly back to Perth citing personal reasons earlier this week.

During the backend of Australia’s match against Ashes rivals England in Ahmedabad, Cricket Australia confirmed that the all-rounder will be re-joining the squad on November 5, i.e., two days prior to team’s penultimate group fixture against Afghanistan.

The Australian team is slated to fly to Mumbai following their game against England, considering they are scheduled to face Afghanistan at the city’s iconic Wankhede Stadium on November 7. Marsh is expected to be re-united with his teammates in Mumbai itself, thus pretty much confirming his availability for their final two group matches of the tournament.

Australia launched their World Cup 2023 campaign with demoralizing defeats at the hands of hosts India and familiar white-ball rivals South Africa. Thereafter, Pat Cummins and co. roared back into semi-final contention by trouncing Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Netherlands and New Zealand in successive games to jump among the top four sides on the points table.

Mitchell Marsh himself has contributed to Australia’s winning cause, having scored 225 runs from six innings, including a match-winning ton against Pakistan in Bengaluru. The dynamic all-rounder also claimed two key wickets against Netherlands, which subsequently proved vital for Australia’s huge NRR boosting win in Delhi.
