India’s stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav paddle-flicked Marcus Stoinis for a first-ball six during the second T20I of their five-match series. Arriving to the crease in the backend of the Indian innings, Suryakumar bludgeoned 19 runs from just 10 balls to pounce on sparkling top-order half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan.

Suryakumar launches Stoinis for a huge six

Arriving to the crease following the dismissal of half-centurion Ishan Kishan, interim skipper and number four batsman Surykumar Yadav used his wrists to paddle-flick Marcus Stoinis for a huge six down the leg side off the first ball of his innings.

Suryakumar Yadav blasted another six over the sightscreen the following over, this time taking Adam Zampa to the cleaners in Thiruvananthapuram. The batting veteran was eventually dismissed at the hands of Nathan Ellis after scoring a 10-ball 19 during his death-overs stay at the crease.

Suryakumar’s batting blitzkrieg, coupled with half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan and a finishing bombardment from Rinku Singh extended India’s total to a colossal 235-4 from their 20 overs.

Earlier in the series, the 33-year-old drove his side to victory on his captaincy debut with a run-case masterclass in Vishakhapatnam. The right-handed batter belted 80 runs from just 42 balls as India stormed past their daunting 209-run target with a ball and two wickets to spare.

The innings marked Suryakumar’s return to the form following his listless run at the 2023 World Cup earlier this month. His match-winning effort against Australia in the first T20I also took India 1-0 up in the five-match series.
