Sri Lanka have one hand on the trophy as they have stunned New Zealand with some brilliant bit of bowling on Day 3 of the second Test in Galle. Led by Prabath Jayasuriya, the Lankan Lions have been all over the Kiwis, as the visitors still trail by 315 runs in their second innings.
Trying to get closer to Sri Lanka's mammoth first-innings score of 602, New Zealand were stunned when their entire side was bundled out for a paltry 88. Sri Lanka enforced a follow-on, and the Kiwis, despite starting on a positive note, fumbled once again.
Rachin Ravindra knocked over by dream delivery
Kane Williamson and Devon Conway put up a fight in the second innings, but the Sri Lankan spinners wreaked havoc once again as the Kiwis were pushed on the verge of defeat. The Lankan spinners bowled some brilliant deliveries on Day 3, and picked up some great wickets, but the highlighted of the day was the wicket of Rachin Ravindra in the second innings.
Sri Lankan debutant, Nishan Peiris, came around the wicket and bowled a brilliant off-break, which pitched on the middle stump and turned away sharply to strike the top of off-stump. Ravindra hung back and had no clue as he was stunned by the class of the delivery.
Sri Lanka strengthen position in Galle Test and WTC table
Having already won the first Test match, Sri Lanka have the upper hand in the second match as well. The team has pushed the Kiwis on the verge of defeat as at the end of Day 3, New Zealand were 315 runs behind.
A win here will help them to clean sweep the series, and will also strengthen their position in the WTC points table, and the Asian side will have a great chance of qualifying for the finals.
