After Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, if there is another person whom the Chinnaswamy crowd worships like no other, she is Smriti Mandhana. 

And in front of them on Monday, during RCB’s WPL 2024 clash against UP Warriorz, how the southpaw was batting left everyone in awe.

Coming to bat first, Smriti started to play aggressively right from the get-go. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, one of the veterans of Indian cricket, was at the receiving end firs during the fourth over of the inningst, as Smriti came down the track to slam her nonchalantly over wide long-off for six runs.

Then in the following over, against Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, Mandhana cleared her front leg to smash the star all-rounder over long-on after bending her back.

Although Smriti tends to accelerate, she doesn’t seem to play as quickly as she was playing UP Warriorz. Notably, it was RCB’s last home match at WPL before the focus shifts to Delhi for the remainder of the competition.

At the time of writing, RCB are on a roll, racing to 84/1 after 10 overs, with Ellyse Perry and Smriti Mandhana in the middle, on 9* and 40* respectively.
