The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka in the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo has started on a positive note for the visitors with Sri Lanka losing five wickets around 100 runs. The third of those wickets was of Sadeera Samarawickrama and it was Axar Patel who got the better of him in the 19th over.

It was the third delivery of the 19th over, and it was a slower loopy delivery on off. Sadeera pushed at it, but played it a bit early, and he ended up hitting it uppishly towards short cover where Shubman Gill took a brilliant low catch running forward.

Sri Lanka's Middle Order Fails Again

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first with a hope of posting a good score in the first innings as the batting is expected to get difficult on a slow deck at Colombo. They were handed an early blow though with the wicket of Avishka Fernando in the third over, and then Shivam Dube got the big wicket of Kusal Mendis in the 14th over. 

Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar also got into the act eventually with the wicket of Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka and Pathum Nissanka respectively, and overall India are in a pretty strong position.
