The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka is underway at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their decision backfired as the Island Nation lost a wicket early on. 

Mohammed Siraj extended his golden touch against Sri Lanka, as the right-arm seamer drew the first blood for India. He struck in his second over when he got rid of opener Avishka Fernando. 

On the 3rd ball of the 3rd over, Fernando tried to flick a full-length delivery to the leg-side but mistimed the shot. The ball eventually went towards deep third man, where Arshdeep Singh made no mistake.

It is worth noting that Siraj brings out his top game against the Lankans, as when India faced Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final, he registered the figures of 6/21, which included a four-wicket haul in a single over. Siraj's spell restricted Sri Lanka to just 50 runs. 

Siraj further shone against the Island Nation in the 2023 World Cup group stage game, where he took three wickets.
