Hardik Pandya pulled out of the ODI series due to personal reasons, and that has prompted Indian team management to try out Shivam Dube in the format after five long years. He is expected to fill Hardik Pandya's all-round role and has started off on a positive note as well, getting the big wicket of Kusal Mendis in the 14th over.

It was a good-length delivery that is angled into the right-hander. Kusal Mendis tries to defend it, but gets beaten on the outside edge as the ball straightens after pitching. The ball hit his back leg and the Indian fielders appealed loudly, Dube joined in late, but once he did, the umpire raised the finger and the Mumbai all-rounder has now got his maiden ODI wicket.

Before Dube, Mohammed Siraj got the better of Avishka Fernando in the third over of the match, and overall batting has been pretty hard so far. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first on a dry pitch and they would be looking to post something around 250 to challenge India who have plenty of experience in their squad.
