He showed that with a good low catch in the second ODI, and now in the third ODI, he has grabbed a stunning catch near ropes to get rid of Kusal Mendis in the penultimate over of Sri Lanka's innings.

It was the fourth delivery of the over and Kuldeep Yadav bowled a short delivery on middle and leg. Kusal Mendis went for the pull shot, but did not time it perfectly, the ball went aerially towards long on and Shubman Gill at long on first grabbed the catch, lifted it up in the air, went over the ropes and then came back in to take the catch calmly again inside the ropes.

His wicket eventually made a difference of atleast 10 runs to the final score as Sri Lanka ended with 248 on the board. Kusal Mendis scored 59 off 82 balls while Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando at the top of the order scored 45 and 96 runs respectively and their opening stand was crucial on a difficult batting deck at R.Premadasa Stadium.
