Pathum Nissanka Returns As Sri Lanka Announce Squad For ENG Test Series

The Sri Lankan selection committee has announced a 18-member squad for the three-match Test series against England. Dhananjaya De Silva will continue to lead the Test side while Kusal Mendis is the vice-captain. Also, Pathum Nissanka who has been brilliant in white-ball cricket has been recalled in the side.
The squad consists of a good blend of youth and experience with quality batters like Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal still going strong in the format. Nishan Madushka and Sadeera Samarawickrama are the two young batters in the ranks while the likes of Kamindu Mendis and Ramesh Mendis are the two spin-bowling all-rounders.
On the bowling front, Nisala Tharaka, the uncapped yet experienced performer in domestic cricket has been included in the squad while Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha are the two experienced heads.
The duo of Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando are also likely to play a crucial role in English conditions while Prabath Jayasuriya and Jeffrey Vandersay are the two frontline spinners.
The first Test is scheduled to start on 21st of August at Old Trafford while the second and third Tests will be played at Lord's and Kia Oval respectively.
