Swashbuckling batter Abhishek Sharma grabbed the limelight on Sunday afternoon as he smashed a blistering hundred in the second T20I of India's ongoing five-match series against Zimbabwe.  

Opening the batting, the explosive southpaw slammed 100 runs off just 47 deliveries, helping India claim the driving seat in the high-octane clash in Harare. 

After India opted to bat first on Harare's tacky wicket, skipper Gill departed early for only two runs off Blessing Muzarabani's bowling. However, Abhishek played a pivotal role in steading the Indian ship with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the duo added 137 runs for the second wicket. 

Hailed for his glorious stroke play, Abhishek brought up his maiden international ton in just 46 deliveries with the help of seven fours and eight huge sixes.

Shubman Gill hugs Abhishek Sharma in Indian dressing room

Soon after completing his hundred with three consecutive sixes, Abhishek Sharma fell prey to Wellington Masakadza in the final ball of the 14th over. 

However, as he entered the dressing room, the left-handed batter received a hero's welcome for his exceptional outing in the match. 

Indian skipper Shubman Gill, who shares a great bond with Abhishek, hugged him, with the moment going instantly viral on social media. 

Riding on Abhishek's century, India have dominated Zimbabwe in the second T20I, placed at 171 for two in 16.4 overs as of writing.
