Mitchell Starc had a stellar day on the field, dismissing the dangerous Travis Head early in the qualifier match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 21.

SRH, having won the toss and opted to bat against the table-toppers KKR, faced an immediate setback when Starc struck. His lethal delivery removed the SRH opener, setting the tone for KKR's bowling attack.

Starc's brilliance continued as he eyed another crucial wicket. In the 3rd over, he delivered a pinpoint yorker on the middle and leg stump line, targeting Rahul Tripathi.

Tripathi managed to jam his bat down just in time, sending the ball off the inner half towards square leg for a single. However, Starc was convinced that the ball had struck Tripathi's pad first and urged for a review.

Despite Starc's insistence, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer decided against reviewing the decision. Replays later showed that it was indeed pad-first contact, confirming it would have been out if reviewed. This DRS blunder meant Tripathi stayed at the crease, a missed opportunity for KKR.

At the time of writing, SRH were at 39 for 2 in 5 overs, with Starc's early breakthroughs putting pressure on their batting lineup.
