Shreyas Iyer has been under the pump in World Cup 2023 due to his inconsistent batting and has been guilty of throwing away his wickets at a wrong time. There were calls of his ouster before the Sri Lanka game at Wankhede but the man has responded brilliantly with some breathtaking strokeplay.

He came out to bat with India in good position at 193-2 at the end of 30th over. However, India needed someone to take the initiative forward and start on the top gear. Shreyas did exactly that and came out all guns blazing, smashing some massive sixes.

It was a fourth delivery of the 36th over and Kasun Rajitha bowled a length delivery on off. Shreyas Iyer picked the length quickly, got under it and slammed it way over long on for a humongous six. The shot was stamp of authority from Shreyas Iyer who made his intentions clear and sent out a message loud and clear that he means business.  It is the biggest six of World Cup 2023 so far as it travelled 106-metre.These are great signs for India as they needed their number 4 to fire, and with India all set to feature in semi-finals, his form will be crucial for India.
