Team India discard Yuzvendra Chahal attended the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on October 2 to witness India’s World Cup 2023 standoff against Sri Lanka. The ace spinner was spotted enjoying the proceedings from the stands after Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis had invited the Indians to bat first in the contest.

Yuzvendra Chahal enjoys IND vs SL World Cup 2023 tie

Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who played the last of his 72 ODI matches for his country back in January earlier this year, has not been considered in the team’s 50-overs outfit by the selection committee since then. However, the cricketer frequently finds a spot in India’s T20I set-up, as he also turned up for the ‘Men in Blue’ in their Caribbean tour in August, a couple of months after the conclusion of the IPL 2023 season.

As Chahal continues to enjoy the 2023 World Cup proceedings from the sidelines, he decided to extend his support for Team India from the stands by visiting the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for their Sri Lanka fixture.

Having made his international debut in 2016 under MS Dhoni’s leadership, Yuzvendra Chahal has so far collected over 200 wickets across his 152 limited-overs appearances for his country.

Meanwhile, Chahal along with the rest of the Wankhede crowd bore witness to a sublime 189-run second-wicket partnership between Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. Even though both cricketers missed out on their respective centuries, their rebellious half-centuries set up a concrete foundation of a colossal Indian total upfront in their innings.

While Gill scored a run-a-ball 92, Kohli departed back to the pavilion after punching out a counterattacking 88. At the time of publishing, the Indian team reached 255-3 from their 39 overs, with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer occupying the crease.
