In another one-woman show, Deepti Sharma nearly took UP Warriorz home with a splendid 88-run knock but fell short of eight runs to not only award Gujarat Giants Women a rare win but also elevate RCB-W’s playoff odds.

In a high-stake 153 runs chase, UP Warriorz lost four wickets inside powerplay until Deepti Sharma launched a counter attack. Deepti, who took UP home with bowling heroics the other day, embraced the challenge with the bat this time. The southpaw slammed 88 off 60 balls.

She secured her prized wicket from one end to keep the scoreboard ticking against adversities. Deepti Sharma raced through her third consecutive fifty of the WPL 2024 season, but despite heartening efforts, she failed to carry Warriorz through the finish line. 

With 26 needed off the final over, Deepti slammed two sixes but lack of support from the other end coupled with Meghna Singh’s tight bowling left UP eight runs short in the 153 runs chase. 

That being said, Deepti Sharma and UP Warriorz’s agony must have brought ecstasy inside the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women camp. 

Having tied for the third spot with UP on the points table, RCB’s fate now remain in their own hands. They have a game scheduled against Mumbai Indians Women tomorrow. A win would directly take them to the playoffs of the WPL 2024 season.

Notably, RCB-W botched a golden opportunity to secure a playoff spot by falling short of just one run in an absolutely heartbreaking loss against Delhi Capitals Women.

Regardless, UP Warriorz's loss has only added more excitement to the upcoming virtual knockout game between RCB-W and MI-W.
