In a significant development, Rishabh Pant has been left out of the first ODI match between India and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium on August 2.

After Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that KL Rahul would be taking over wicketkeeping duties in Colombo.

This means that Rishabh Pant, who has been recovering from a life-threatening car crash in December 2022, will have to wait for his ODI comeback.

KL Rahul, the regular ODI wicketkeeper, retained his place in the XI, alongside seasoned players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Kuldeep Yadav.

India, fresh from a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series, will look to continue their dominance and aim for a clean sweep in the ODI series as well.
