In a thrilling PSL encounter between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, Shadab Khan smoked a towering maximum over the mid-wicket boundary off Aamer Jamal’s pace-off delivery. The United skipper picked up the variation and punished it in the right way.

Islamabad United locked horns with Peshawar Zalmi for the 20th encounter of the PSL 2024 season. Babar Azam won the toss and invited Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United to bat first on a cracker wicket.

However, the United endured an early blow as Alex Hales was clean bowled by Saim Ayub in the very first delivery of the game. Furthermore, Ayub went on to remove Colin Munro in the next over of his spell to push Islamabad on the backfoot.

However, captain Shadab Khan stepped up when his team needed it the most. He formed a resilient partnership with Agha Salman to resume the onslaught.

Once Shadab got settled, he unleashed his inner power hitter. Right after the powerplay, when Peshawar hoped to put a stoppage to the flow of runs, Shadab reiterated his intentions for an assault.

Aamer Jamal came into the bowl in the seventh over and tried to deceive the opposition skipper with a slower delivery. However, Jamal revealed his cards too early, as Khan was able to read his pace off variation from afar.

Shadab Khan's eyes lit up, and he waited for his chance to smoke a towering six over the mid-wicket boundary. He stood his ground and bent a little to get into the position.

The ball landed deep into the stands, and Shadab Khan relished the powerful hit. He signaled to his partner, Agha Salman, that he read Jamal’s pace off variation to perfection.

It was a moment of reprieve for the Islamabad captain, whose form as an all-rounder has been under the radar for a while now. After getting sidelined from the Pakistan senior team, Shadab hit a rough patch. Regardless, the PSL is an opportunity for him to rediscover himself and get out as a better and improved all-rounder.
