Rajasthan Royals' (RR) wicket-keeper and skipper Sanju Samson, renowned for his exceptional skills behind the stumps, had a rare lapse during the crucial Qualifier 2 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Despite his reputation as one of the finest wicket-keepers, Samson missed a key opportunity to dismiss Travis Head, which could have shifted the momentum in favour of his team.

RR won the toss and chose to field first against Pat Cummins' SRH. Early in the innings, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed, bringing Travis Head and Rahul Tripathi to the crease.

The pivotal moment occurred in the 4th over, when Ravi Ashwin was bowling his second over. Tripathi managed a single, which led to a chaotic moment behind the stumps.

As Tripathi ran, he lost his balance, presenting a clear stumping chance for Samson. Additionally, Travis Head, attempting a risky run, would have been out if Samson had cleanly gathered the ball after it deflected off his gloves.

Ashwin bowled just outside off stump, beating Tripathi, and the ball eluded Samson as well. The batters seized the moment and scampered for a run, which was controversially given as runs, suggesting a possible edge from Tripathi's bat.

This missed opportunity by Samson, who failed to collect the ball cleanly, proved significant. If executed correctly, it could have led to a crucial wicket, putting additional pressure on Orange Army early in the match.

At the time of writing, SRH are at 67 for 3 in 6 overs.
