Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the most classy batters going around in world cricket currently. The Maharashtra skipper is a delight to watch when he gets going and is one of those few players who always plays orthodox cricket shots whether he is playing at the start or at the death.

Gaikwad is India's skipper for Asian Games, but has been included for the initial two games of the three-match ODI series against the Aussies as well. He started off with bang and played a glorious knock of 71 in the first game and impressed one and all with his range and balance. In the second ODI as well, he started beautifully with a lovely shot off the very first delivery of the match.

Australia's debutant, Spencer Johnson started the proceedings with the ball and bowled a full delivery, swinging into middle and leg. Gaikwad without much fuss played a delightful flick that beat the diving square leg fielder and raced towards the fence. He played another delightful cover drive off the third ball of that over and looked in supreme touch. However, his promising knock was cut short by Josh Hazlewood when the pacer with his immaculate line and length, produced outside edge of Gaikwad's blade to hand India first blow.
