The co-hosts, West Indies are playing against Uganda in the 18th match of the T20 World Cup 2024.  The home team won the toss at the Providence Stadium in Guyana and had no hesitation in batting first. 

Brandon King and Johnson Charles got West Indies off to steady start. However, King did not last long in the middle, as Alpesh Ramjani dismissed him in the fifth over of the innings. 

Nicholas Pooran, one of the most reputed and destructive T20 batters of the current time walked out to bat at the the fall of the first wicket. Pooran looked on a good touch as he started off his innings with a monstrous hit against Ramjani. 


Pooran looked to be on the aggressive whenever he got the chance. He slammed a 86 meters six during his stay in the middle. It looked like he was well settled and has got a good idea of the wicket. His stay in the middle could have ensured a big total for West Indies in the match.

Even though Nicholas Pooran looked set for a big score, it did not turn out as planned for the southpaw. The Ugandan skipper, Brian Masaba came in to the attack in the tenth over of the innings.

On the second delivery of the over Masaba managed to induce a false shot out of Pooran. It was a shorter delivery by Masaba, which lit up the eyer of Nicky P. The Trinidadian batter set himself to launch the ball out of the ground. But Pooran completely miscued the shot and ended up top edging to be taken by Masaba, resulting in a caught bowled.
