West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to bat first against Uganda in their Group C encounter at the ongoing T20 World Cup on Saturday, held at the Guyana National Stadium. Both teams fielded unchanged line-ups from their previous matches.

Openers Brandon King and Johnson Charles provided a steady start for West Indies. However, King was dismissed by Alpesh Ramjani. Nicholas Pooran, known for his explosive batting, walked in at the fall of the first wicket and began with a monstrous hit against Ramjani. Pooran's quickfire innings of 22 runs off 17 balls ended soon as he could not build up on his innings.

Rovman Powell then took charge, and scored 23 runs off 18 balls. However, his innings was cut short in the 15th over when Brian Masaba dismissed him. He attempted a flat-batted stroke over extra cover but was brilliantly caught by Obuya, who timed his jump perfectly to take a stunning catch.

After the end of WI innings, with significant contributions from the batters, they made a decent score of 173/5 (20.0). Uganda need to chase down the total but at the present moment, they look in trouble as the WI bowlers have scalped early wickets and Uganda is seen to be struggling and have lost 5 wickets at the score of 19 runs in 4.3 overs.
