Ahead of the much-anticipated World Cup 2023 final, Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and asked Rohit Sharma's India to bat first at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Unsurprsingly, both sides have not made a single change to their playing XIs which helped them to win their respective semi-finals.

While Pat Cummins was happy to chase, Rohit Sharma revealed he wanted to bat first as well, considering their rich vein of form in the competition. Therefore, it is safe to say that both captains got what they wanted from the coin toss, and this should be a cracker of a contest for the viewers.

World Cup Final: Captains’ Thoughts

Rohit Sharma

“I would have batted first. Looks like a good pitch, a big game, and put runs on the board. It's going to be amazing, every time we play here, the crowd comes out in large numbers. (This is) the biggest occasion in the cricketing event. We have to stay nice and calm. It's a dream come true to be captaining the team in the final. I know what lies in front of us. We need to play well and get the result. You have to make the right decisions on the field. That's something we've done consistently in the last 10 games. We are playing the same team.”

Pat Cummins

“We are gonna have a bowl first. Looks like a dry wicket. Dew is a factor. It gets better to bat on. Tough start to the tournament, haven't really put a foot wrong ever since. It's all set up perfectly. We've played these guys a lot. Same team as the semi-final.”
