The veteran opener got off the mark with a stupendous six, and more significantly, he came down the track to smash it, making his intentions crystal clear to the opposition and his ardent fans.

Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka closed on 230/8, with Dunith Wellalage making 67* off 65 balls to take them to a respectable total. Pathum Nissanka also made a promising start, smashing 56 off 75 balls, while the rest fell like a pack of cards.

India, at the time of writing this, are 21/0 after 2.5 overs, with Rohit batting on 14* off 9 balls. Shubman Gill is batting from the other end, batting on 6* off 8 balls, as India should not worry about to get the job done with so much force still to come.
