The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to address disciplinary issues within the national cricket team followed by their disappointing exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

According to the Reports of The Express Tribune, this step has been taken by the Board after a rift within the Pakistan team after their disappointing World Cup 2024 performance.

Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam reportedly had differences during the marquee tournament, where they suffered a group stage exit.

Followed by Pakistan's disappointing performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, Babar Azam stepped down as captain. Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the captain for the shorter format but was removed after just one series.

Babar Azam was reappointed as captain before the T20 World Cup, which led to speculation about the team's unity and internal dynamics.

PCB All Set To Take Action Against Disciplinary Issues

According to reports, the PCB has formed a special committee to evaluate and recommend disciplinary actions for players who breach team discipline.

This committee, led by a former captain, will review three detailed reports on player conduct prepared by the head coach, team manager, and an independent intelligence agency.

The committee will aim to ensure that any disciplinary actions taken are fair and based on substantial evidence. This initiative underscores the PCB's commitment to maintain discipline and improving the internal dynamics of the national team.
