A dramatic incident unfolded during the ongoing Champions Trophy semifinal between India and Australia. In the 6th over of the second innings, Rohit Sharma unleashed an explosive straight drive off Nathan Ellis that nearly struck the on-field umpire.

The ball shot like a rocket, as Rohit Sharma, used the pace of Ellis’ delivery to pierce the mid-off and mid-on region with a perfect drive straight down the ground. The shot had such power that the bowler moved away while the umpire quickly bent down to avoid being struck. As the ball raced towards the boundary, umpire gave a relieved expression showed the near miss.

Earlier in the match, Australia, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and put up a competitive total of 265 runs. With significant contributions from captain Steve Smith and Alex Carey. Smith’s steady 74 runs anchored the innings, while Carey’s 50 runs in the middle order ensured Australia had a significant total to defend.
India's Challenging Start To Chase
India’s chase got off to the a horrible start as opener Shubman Gill was dismissed for a single-digit score. Rohit Sharma, who followed him to the crease, looked steady, but his innings came to an abrupt end as he was dismissed for 28 runs off 29 balls. At the time of writing, India finds itself at 43/3, with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer currently at the crease, trying to rebuild the innings and keep India’s hopes alive.
