Pakistan's white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan was welcomed in some style by South Africa's young sensation Kwena Maphaka in the ongoing second ODI between the two sides at Newlands in Cape Town. After Saim Ayub got out playing a rash shot, Rizwan joined his long-time partner-in-crime Babar Azam in the middle. 

However, South Africa's prodigy Kwena Maphaka instantly had a go at the visiting skipper, greeting him with an absolute snorter. The incident occurred during the tenth over of Pakistan's innings when Rizwan had just arrived at the crease. Maphaka, who dismissed Saim with a harmless short delivery, pitched the first ball up before banging it short for Rizwan. 

The Pakistani captain pushed the first ball off his front foot, but he had no clue when Maphaka surprised him with a bouncer. As a result, he couldn't leave the bumper in time, with the ball hitting him on his helmet. 

Soon after receiving the blow on his head, Rizwan was attended by Pakistan's physio, who conducted a precautionary concussion test. Eventually, the Pakistan captain was declared fit to participate in the high-voltage match.

South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision proved to be a masterstroke as Marco Jansen drew the first blood for the hosts, dismissing Abdullah Shafique for a duck. Despite losing Saim Ayub cheaply, Babar Azam has looked rock-solid in the middle, consolidating the innings with skipper Rizwan.
