Hybrid Model Approved For Champions Trophy 2025; ICC To Finalise Schedule Soon

In a significant development, the hybrid model has formally been accepted by India and Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, the tournament was originally scheduled to be conducted in Pakistan. 

However, the BCCI proposed a hybrid model after the Indian government refused to allow its players to visit the neighbouring country and participate in the marquee event. After lots of debates and discussions, the hybrid model has formally been approved by the ICC and India will play their matches at a neutral venue. 

It's worth mentioning that the ICC hasn't revealed the neutral venue yet; however, the United Arab Emirates seems to be the frontrunner to host a significant portion of the competition. According to the hybrid model, India will play their matches at a neutral venue. So, if the Men in Blue qualify for the playoffs, those games will also be conducted in a neutral venue instead of Pakistan. 

On the other hand, it has also been agreed upon that Pakistan's matches will be conducted at a neutral venue during the upcoming ICC events in India. As a result, Pakistan will play their matches outside India during the Women's World Cup 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026. 

Tri-Series Proposed Involving India And Pakistan To Compensate For The Loss

In another major development, the ICC stated that it doesn't oppose an idea of a triangular T20I series involving India and Pakistan and another team from the sub-continent at a neutral venue. This move is aimed to make up for the financial loss due to both teams' reluctance to play at each others' home. So, if this proposal is implemented, we might witness riveting contests between the arch-rivals going forward.
