In his much-anticipated return to IPL 2024 on Sunday afternoon, Mumbai Indians’ ace batsman Suryakumar Yadav fell for a two-ball duck against Delhi Capitals in Match 20 of the ongoing edition at Wankhede Stadium. 

And it was Rishabh Pant’s excellent strategic move that paid off, as Anrich Nortje got the job done within three balls after being introduced in the contest.

After Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave Mumbai a fluent start, SKY entered his usual No. 3 position to carry on the momentum. The South African international appealed for LBW immediately after, but the umpire did not raise his finger after watching it go down the leg side.

On the next ball, Nortje got the reward, as SKY went on his back foot for a lofted drive. Substitute fielder Jake Fraser-McGurk, placed at mid-on, backpedaled nicely before completing a two-handed overhead catch.

Meanwhile, MI are in a spot of bother, posting 111/3 after 10.2 overs, with Hardik Pandya in the middle, on 14* off 10 balls. Ishan Kishan was the latest victim, as Axar Patel got him for a 23-ball 42.

Notably, the five-time champions are yet to open their account in the IPL 2024.
