Veteran Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma had a sensational start with the bat in Mumbai Indians' ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 

Opening the batting alongside keeper-batter Ishan Kishan, Rohit went gung-ho right from the word go, ensuring a brisk start for his side in this all-important encounter. 

The explosive opener took a particular liking for Delhi Capitals' ace speedster Jhye Richardson, whom he smashed for two consecutive sixes in his opening over. 

The incident occurred during the fourth over of MI's innings when DC skipper Rishabh Pant brought Richardson into the attack after Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed failed to provide them with a breakthrough. 

However, the move backfired on the visitors, with Rohit taking on Richardson and hammering him for two massive sixes. 

The first ball was a back-of-the-length delivery, which Rohit dragged from outside the off stump to dispatch it over the mid wicket stand for a six. 

He followed it up with an even more glorious shot, timing Richardson's good-length delivery over the square leg boundary for an effortless six. 

Despite enthralling the spectators with his stroke play, he talismanic batter couldn't complete his fifty, as Axar Patel uprooted his off stump. 

Riding on Rohit's scintillating knock, Mumbai Indians have raced to 81 for one in 7.1 overs, with Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav unbeaten in the middle.
