The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in line to host five World Cup 2023 fixtures, kicked off its tournament proceedings with a match between Australia and Pakistan on October 20. The 40,000-seater stadium witnessed a good turnout for a non-India game, with both sides finding their share of support from local Indian crowd at the venue.

While fans seem to have picked out their own favorites between Australia and Pakistan, nearly all of them livened up the proceedings by re-creating their iconic IPL gesture for the local team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

At one point during the Australian innings upfront, scores of fans present at the stadium reverberated ‘RCB, RCB’ chants, thus bringing their usual IPL warcry to a World Cup stage.

Prominent IPL team RCB, also one of the original franchises from the cash-rich tournament, have been playing all their home matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Thousands of spectators gather at the venue for RCB matches to showcase their love and support for Virat Kohli and the rest of his teammates. As it turned out, fans witnessing Australia’s World Cup 2023 battle with Pakistan at the stadium took this opportunity to recreate their favorite IPL warcry at the grandest stage of the sport.

During the Australian innings, scores of fans turned the stage into an IPL podium as they chanted ‘RCB, RCB…’ in unison.

Apart from feeling nostalgic from their love for RCB, fans were also graced with some hard-hitting exhibition from Australian batters David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. The two explosive openers bludgeoned big centuries in the innings, and engineered their side to a colossal 367-9 upfront.
