The third edition of the Global T20 Canada underway on Thursday with Brampton Wolves taking on the Mississauga Panthers in the curtain raiser at CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.

It was a rain curtailed encounter as the play got wrapped up pretty early and Brampton emerged victorious with a pretty dominating performance while Mississauga Panthers went down without showing any fight.

Chasing 122, Brampton’s batters were putting on a show with brilliant ball striking but there was one moment in the Panthers’ camp which actually stole all the spotlight.

Veteran cricketer Chris Gayle, who is known for his aggressive batting and entertainment on the field, grabbed everyone’s attention with another humorous moment while fielding.

The incident happened in the seventh over of Brampton’s chase. Bowling over the wicket, Usman Qadir delivered a length ball, onto the stump and Mark Chapman played a late cut guiding towards third man.

Gayle, who was fielding at short third man, misjudged the pace of the ball and went way ahead before the ball reached. He made a humorous reattempt after mistiming his run and fall comically while turning back to stop the ball .

Eventually, the ball sneakily made its way towards the boundary rope. The incident left everyone in the ground with laughter, including Gayle himself, who absolutely loves entertaining the crowd.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, the Mississauga Panthers posted a paltry 121 in the first inning with Azam Khan topping the scorecard with a 65 off 55. In reply, Brampton Wolves got off to a flying start and were cruising towards their victory before the rain halted the play.

At the end, the umpires called it for the day and Brampton got over the line by 44 runs (DLS Method). It all went wrong against the Panthers as they got pretty much humiliated in the very first match of their tournament and will need a big turnaround in the next game to keep themselves alive in the competition.
