One of the most exciting young talents in world cricket is Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi, whose rise in international cricket has been phenomenal. Afridi, 23, is known for his exploits with the new ball, making it swing prodigious both aways across formats, making him almost unplayable when on-song.

However, his batting is something that needs to be worked upon a lot, which current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf does not consider.

During the unveiling ceremony of the Asia Cup 2023 schedule on Wednesday in Pakistan, Ashraf complimented Afridi for being a Top 10 batter while talking about Pakistan's chances in upcoming tournaments.

Ashraf, who took over from Najam Sethi, during the event, which is available on PCB's YouTube Channel committed a major blunder about Afridi being a batter and clubbed him with the like of Babar Azam.

Here's what Ashraf said

"There is strength in both our batting and bowling. If you talk about batting, our captain [Babar Azam] is number one [ranked batter] in the world. If you talk about others, then Pakistan batters are among the top-five [in the rankings]. If you talk about Shaheen Shah Afridi, his name comes in the top 10 batters. So, the way Pakistan team is playing, my best wishes are with them,"

Afridi is ranked No.9 in ICC ODI Rankings for Bowlers and occupies the fifth position in Test, while is way down at 16 in T20I.

Interestingly, Afridi did show his batting prowess in the last edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) playing for champions Lahore Qalandars (LQ), scoring a quick-fire 44 off 15 in the final.

The LQ skipper is currently touring Sri Lanka for a two-Test tour, and played a crucial hand in Pakistan's first Test win at Galle, claiming five wickets in the match.
