Prominent Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is regarded as one of the finest fielders in modern-day cricket. The veteran cricketer showcased his fielding prowess for the umpteenth time in the ongoing first ODI against West Indies, as he plucked a sensational catch to remove Alick Athanaze and help the debutant Mukesh Kumar scalp his first wicket in the format. 

After being put into bat first, West Indies had a poor start to their innings, as Hardik Pandya dismissed the dangerous Kyle Mayers cheaply. But Brandon King and Alick Athanaze faced the rampant Indian attack with the utmost bravery, keeping the visitors at bay for the next few overs. 

However, the eighth over turned out to be a nightmare for the hosts, who lost the key wicket of Athanaze, courtesy of Jadeja's fielding brilliance. As Mukesh Kumar provided width, Athanaze played an aerial shot off his back foot, with the ball flying towards the backward point. 

It wasn't an easy catch, as the ball was travelling. But Jadeja exhibited commendable athleticism to dive at the right time and grab a spectacular catch. 

After Athanaze's departure, King fell prey to Shardul Thakur's beautiful delivery, leaving West Indies reeling at 45 for three. As of writing, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer are trying to consolidate the innings, with the hosts placed at 63 for three in 12 overs.
