Ravindra Jadeja belted 35 crucial runs to turbo-charge the Indian innings in their death overs assault against Sri Lanka at the 2023 World Cup. The dynamic all-rounder accumulated 12 of those runs against Dushmantha Chameera during the penultimate over, as Team India surged to a colossal 357-8 from their 50 overs upfront.

In a brilliant display of premeditated excellence, Jadeja swatted Chameera over the wicketkeeper’s head before thumping him over long-on for a huge six.

Ravindra Jadeja goes berserk to take India past 350

Ravindra Jadeja arrived to the crease in the 42nd over of the innings, following the early dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav. While the cricketer played the role of a second fiddle to aggressor Shreyas Iyer during the initial stages of his innings, he unleashed extravagant ways of hitting boundaries upon the latter’s departure in the 48th over.

Jadeja thumped Dushmantha Chameera for an audacious boundary over wicketkeeper and a huge six over long-on to take India past the 350-run mark in the penultimate over itself.

Ravindra Jadeja was eventually dismissed off the last ball of the Indian innings after slapping a 24-ball 35. Earlier in the match, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill listed sparkling 80-plus knocks, while Shreyas Iyer roared with a 56-ball 82 to become the biggest benefactors of India’s 357-8.

However, the trio perished at the hands of Sri Lanka’s new-ball speedster Dilshan Madushanka, who claimed five wickets in the innings to finish with 5-80 from his 10 overs. Apart from claiming Kohli, Gill and Iyer, Madushanka also entrapped Rohit Sharma within the opening over of the match and Suryakumar Yadav against the run of play.
